Two Years

Five years is too little
We let her go
We had no sudden healing
To think that providence
Would take a child from her mother
While she prays, is appalling
Who told us we'd be rescued
What has changed and
Why should we be saved from nightmares
We're asking why this happens to us
Who have died to live, it's unfair

This is what it means to be held
How it feels, when the sacred is torn from your life
And you survive
This is what it is to be loved and to know
That the promise was when everything fell
We'd be held

This hand is bitterness
We want to taste it
Let the hatred numb our sorrows
The wise hand opens slowly
To lilies of the valley and tomorrow

This is what it means to be held
How it feels, when the sacred is torn from your life
And you survive
This is what it is to be loved and to know
That the promise was when everything fell
We'd be held

If hope is born of suffering
If this is only the beginning
Can we not wait, for one hour
Watching for our savior?

This is what it means to be held
How it feels, when the sacred is torn from your life
And you survive
This is what it is to be loved and to know
That the promise was when everything fell
We'd be held

We are held

  5. My husband and I are thinking of you today. Of all the CaringBridge kids, Anna was, and always will be, his very special favorite. Whenever we go to Sam's Club, he loves to go around and get the samples, and gives a toast and prayer for Anna.

Anna was a very special girl. Thank you for sharing her story. She will never be forgotten.

  6. That song has always been so powerful to me...it can be hard to feel it, to know He is holding us even when life crumbles around us. Thinking of you today. I followed Anna for quite a while and just loved her spirit and the obvious joy she brought to your life as well as the lives of so many others. My heart hurts for you often, more so today...I pray you feel "Held" in His arms.

  8. "Held" got me through most of 2006 & 2007 with the losses we felt over here. I still tear up every time I hear it because I know how many of us sing it as our anthem. Such a powerful song.

I'm praying for you tonight as I fall asleep. (HUGS)
